The Number of Real Estate Transactions Down by 14.59% y-o-y to 36,952 by September 2019

According to the data from the General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre (LRC), the number of real estate (R.E) transactions which may include one or more realties, dropped by a yearly 14.59% to stand at 36,952 transactions by September 2019. In its turn, the value of total RE transactions stood at $4.74B, down by an annual 18.88% over the same period. As such, the average value per transaction fell from 135,029 by September 2018 to 128,228 in the same period this year.

In addition, the foreigners’ share of the total number of real estate transactions climbed to 2.05% by September 2019, up from 1.95% in the same period last year. As such, foreigners executed 845 transactions by September 2018 compared to 758 by September 2019.

In a regional breakdown, the largest number of transactions was executed in Baabda, which grasped a share of 18.40% of the total (the equivalent of 6,799 transactions) worth $819.48M by September 2019. The North and Zahle followed, with stakes of 15.84% and 13.05% of total transactions, worth $313.99M and $171.84M, respectively. Moreover, the South constituted 12.87% of total real estate transactions worth $408.35M over the same period.
