The BLOM Stock Index (BSI) compiled by BLOMInvest Bank on a daily basis rose weekly by 3.01% to reach 1,627.656 on November 11th, 2023 up from 1,580.076 on November 3rd, 2023. Meanwhile, the market capitalization on the Beirut Stock Exchange (BSE) increased weekly from $16.19B to $16.61B. The average volume and value of trades also totaled 16,532 worth $873,258 compared to 106,940 worth $6,807,871 last week.

On the Beirut Stock Exchange (BSE), the real estate sector grasped the lion’s share of the BSE’s trading value with a stake of 98.88%, while the banking sector grasped the remaining shares of 1.12%.  The most noteworthy trades throughout the mentioned period included:

  • Solidere (A) shares rose by 5.45% to settle at $69.6/ share
  • Blom GDR shares rose by 25% to settle at $2.5/ share

As for the BLOM Preferred Shares Index (BPSI), it remained constant at 39.62 by November 10th, 2023.

The Arab stock market expanded this week as S&P Pan Arab and MSCI rose respectively by 0.57% and 1.02% to stand at 901.4 and 957.91 by the end of this week. Moreover, the bourse of Egypt and Qatar expanded respectively by 7.39% and 2.73% while bourse of Morocco and Saudi Arabia contracted respectively by 0.43% and 0.2% by November 10th, 2023.

Meanwhile in the US, S&P 500 declined by 0.25% to stand at 4347.35 points while NASDAQ rose by 0.32% to stand at 13521.45 points by November 10th, compared to the previous week. Indeed, investors have mixed feelings regarding US stock as the unemployment rate rose to the highest level in nearly two years standing at 3.9% in October 2023.

As for Europe’s stock market, DAX Germany rose by 0.27% to stand at 15230. 21 points by November 10th. Meanwhile, CAC France and FTSE 100 Britain dropped respectively by 0.23% and 0.83% to stand at 7,031.18 and 7,356.47 on November 10th, 2023. Indeed, the Eurozone area are awaiting inflation data and fear further tightening monetary policy. In Japan, NIKKEI dropped by 0.43% by the end of the week to stand at 32568.11 points.
