Number of Airport Passengers Up 11.81% by December 2023

The activity at Rafic Hariri International Airport has significantly increased in December 2023 after a decline in November 2023 following Gaza war. Despite the security issues since the beginning of October 2023, it is interesting to note that the cumulative count of passengers at Beirut International airport in 2023 escalated by 11.81% annually, reaching 7,102,847 passengers by December 2023 compared to December 2022.

The breakdown of the airport’s statistics revealed that total arrivals surged by 11.46% year-on-year (YOY) to stand at 3,477,343 passengers by December 2023 compared to 3,119,744 passengers by December 2022. Likewise, number of departing passengers increased by 13.12% on yearly basis to reach 3,613,594 passengers by December 2023, compared to 3,194,553 passengers by December 2022. Moreover, transit passengers dropped from 38,149 passengers in December 2022 to 11,910 passengers in December 2023.

The monthly statistics showed a decline of 12.72% from December 2022 to December 2023. When digging into details, on a monthly basis, arrivals in December 2023 decreased by 13.67% to stand at 261,557 passengers and departures dropped by 10.35% to stand at 219,444 compared to December 2022.
