Banking Stocks Held Back the Lebanese Bourse Today

The Lebanese Bourse slightly downturned to close the week, as the poor performance of the banking stocks weighed on it. Consequently, the BLOM Stock Index (BSI) went down by 0.04% to 1,188.89 points, narrowing its year-to-date gains to 1.59%. In the banking sector, BLOM Bank common and Byblos Bank listed shares lost 0.10% and 0.62% to close the session at respective quotes of $9.65 and $1.60. Similairly, Bank Audi GDR shares and preferred shares class “G” declined by 0.80% and 0.10% to $6.20 and $100.50, respectively. In contrast, Byblos bank preferred shares 2008 gained 0.10% to end up at $100.80. BLOM Bank GDR shares and Bank of Beirut preferred shares class “I” traded with no change in price. In the real estate sector, Solidere shares class “A” and “B” increased by 0.17% and 0.86% to close the session at $11.61 and $11.74, respectively.
