Port of Beirut’s Revenues Witnessed a Slight Drop by July 2017

 Port of Beirut (PoB) registered a 0.97% yearly fall in its revenues during the first seven months of the year to reach $138.16M.

Total container activity including transshipment (TEU+TS) rose by an annual 9.18% to 732,018 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) by July 2017. Particularly, container activity excluding transshipment grew by 2.49% year-on-year (y-o-y) to 500,884 TEU, while transshipment activity plunged by an annual 27.18% to 231,193 TEU by July 2017.

Both MSC and CMA CGM, the two major shipping/logistic firms functioning at the port, observed yearly rises in transshipment activity of 16.81% to 115,225 TEU and 24.96% to 88,793 TEU by July  2017, respectively.

The number of ships that docked at the PoB reached increased 1,303 by July 2017, compared to 1,344 in the same period of 2016.

As for the number of imported cars, they also recorded a rise from 44,208 cars by July  2016 to 49,294 cars by July  2017.
