Revenues of Port of Beirut Up by 28.65% to $10.84M by March 2021

The figures released by the Port of Beirut (PoB) revealed an annual increase of 28.65% in the Port’s revenues which settled at $10.84M by March 2021, compared to last year’s $8.42M.

In details, Total container activity including transshipment (TEU+TS) fell by a yearly 25.39% to stand at 50,210 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU), with Transshipment activity (TS)  alone declining by 66.21% year-on-year (YOY) to 10,815 TEU by March 2021. In its turn, container activity (TEU) increased by 11.63% YOY to 39,395 TEU over the same period.

Accordingly, the transshipment volume of CMA CGM, one of the two major shipping lines operating at the Port of Beirut, rose by 16.09% YOY to 9,321 TEU, while the transshipment activity of MSC decreased by 94.19% YOY to 961 TEU by March 2021. Further, the local volume of CMA CGM rose by 94.12% to 13,064 TEU, while the MSC local volume decreased by 14.75% to 8,232 TEU.
