Number of Airport Passengers Down 3.78% by February 2024

The activity at Rafic Hariri International Airport has decreased in February 2024 for the second month in a row after a rise in December 2023, following the Gaza war. Despite the escalating security issues since the beginning of October 2023, it is interesting to note that the cumulative count of passengers at Beirut International airport in 2024 declined by only 3.78% annually, reaching 864,068 passengers by February 2024.

The breakdown of the airport’s statistics revealed that total arrivals declined by 0.98% year-on-year (YOY) to stand at 405,830 passengers by February 2024 compared to 409,838 passengers by February 2023. Likewise, number of departing passengers decreased by 5.90% on yearly basis to reach 457,410 passengers by February 2024, compared to 486,094 passengers by February 2023. Moreover, transit passengers dropped from 2,057 passengers in February 2023 to 828 passengers in February 2024.

The monthly statistics showed a rise of 1.38% from February 2023 to February 2024. In details, on a monthly basis, arrivals in February 2024 increased by 2.41% to stand at 204,329 passengers and departures increased by 0.91% to stand at 208,752 compared to February 2023.
