Airport Activity Retracted by 13.9%YOY in January 2020

Following the challenging fourth quarter of 2019, the number of travelers to and from Lebanon continued its decline into the first month of 2020 as tourism activity slowed down along with the economy.

Accordingly, the total number of travelers via Beirut airport fell from 607,014 passengers in January 2019 to 522,636 in the same period this year. In detail, passenger arrivals and departures retreated by 14.2% and 15.1% year-on-year (YOY) to 231,380 and 278,205 passengers, respectively.

However, Transit passengers recorded a 34% annual uptick to 13,051 passengers in January 2020.
