Number of Airport Passengers Up by yearly 46.97% By 2022

The activity at Rafic Hariri International Airport improved remarkably in 2022. The number of Beirut’s International airport passengers added 46.97% YOY and recorded 6,352,446 passengers by the end of 2022 compared to 4,322,269 passengers during last year.

The breakdown of the airport’s statistics revealed that total arrivals jumped by 50.68% year-on-year (YOY) to stand at 3,119,744 by December 2022, while number of departing passengers climbed by a yearly 46.44% to reach 3,194,553 over the same period. Nevertheless, transit passengers decreased from 70,332 by the year of 2021 to 38,149 transit passengers by end of 2022.

When looking at the annual changes; for the month of December 2022 alone, airport passengers reached 551,634 passengers up from 455,053 in December 2021, with 302,979 arrivals and 244,779 departures instead of 242,955 arrivals and 209,081 departures during the month of December 2021. Meanwhile transit passengers stood at 3,876 up from 3,017 same month last year.

Furthermore, by observing the monthly changes, the activity at Rafic Hariri International Airport improved in December with total passengers increased remarkably by 23.56% compared to the month of November. In fact, arrivals and departures flourished, respectively, by 44.65% and 5.53% in December, as it reflects the High Holiday season activity.
