BSI Down to 1,720.833 points by Start of March

The BLOM Stock Index (BSI) compiled by BLOMInvest Bank on a daily basis decreased weekly by 2.27% to reach 1,720.833 on March 01, 2024 down from 1,760.834 on February 23, 2024. Meanwhile, the market capitalization on the Beirut Stock Exchange (BSE) decreased weekly from $18.04B to $17.96B. The average volume and value of trades also totaled 158,022 worth $8,883,928 compared to 27,462 shares worth $1,637,266 last week.

On the Beirut Stock Exchange (BSE), the real estate sector grasped the lion’s share of the BSE’s trading value with a stake of 92.94%, while the banking sector and industrial sector grasped the respective remaining shares of 1% and 6.20%.  The most noteworthy trades throughout the mentioned period included:

  • Solidere (A) shares increased by 3.12% to settle at $77.70/ share
  • Solidere (B) shares dropped by 1.90% to settle at $74.75/ share
  • Audi listed retreated by 14.89% to settle at $2/share
  • Byblos share dropped by 6.67% to settle at $0.70
  • Holcim added 0.08% to settle at $59.60

As for the BLOM Preferred Shares Index (BPSI), it remained constant at 39.62 by March 01, 2024.

The Arab stock market fluctuated this week as S&P Pan Arab increased by 0.04% to stand at 1,011.85 points while MSCI dropped by 0.19% to reach 1,018.72 points by the end of this week. Moreover, the bourse of UAE, Qatar, and Tunisia expanded respectively by 2.65%, 1.67%, and 1.52% while bourse of Bahrain and Egypt slightly contracted respectively by 2.18% and 1.18% by March 01, 2024.

In the US, S&P 500 and NASDAQ expanded respectively by 0.18% and 0.31% to stand at 5,096.27 and 16,091.92 points by March 01, 2024 compared to the previous week. As for Europe’s stock market, DAX Germany and FTSE 100 Britain expanded respectively, by 2.28% and 0.07% to stand at 17,768.69 and 7690.26 points by March 01, 2023 while CAC 40 slightly decreased by 0.07% weekly to reach 7,938.12 points by the end of this week. Elsewhere, NIKKEI expanded by 2.08% by the end of the week to stand at 39,910.82 points by March 01, 2024.
